Porcelain Crown

Porcelain crowns or jacket crowns, sometimes known as caps are an efficient way to cover eroded teeth, teeth which have large cavities, correct misaligned teeth and small spaces between teeth. The involved tooth is ground and shaped a little smaller than original and a metal coping is cast and covered with several layers of porcelain to make it resemble a real tooth and then it is cemented over the reshaped tooth.

The shape of the crown can also be modified to compensate for small spaces or misalignment of the tooth by adding extra porcelain to the sides of the jacket crown.
